It is with tremendous sadness the family of Col. Charles (Bud) Donald McGaw announces his passing on September 21, 2020.
Colonel McGaw was born on July 2, 1936 in Lisman, KY, the son of the late Charles and Evelyn McGaw.
Colonel McGaw was a Murray State College 1958 graduate and went on the receive a Master's Degree from the University of Hawaii in 1971. He was also a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and the Army War College.
During his 29 years of distinguished service in the U.S. Army, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Meritorius Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Medal with Bronze Star, the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Honor Medal First Class, among many others.
Husband for 62 years to Wanda Hill McGaw of Louisville, father of Charles David McGaw (Pamela) of Charlottesville, VA; Terri McGaw Allen (Jeff), and Donna McGaw Cain (Chuck) all of Louisville, KY; favorite Papa to Andrew Allen (Lauren) and Audrey Allen, Samantha Giannangeli (Don), and Charles David McGaw III, Chase Cain (Haley) and Eliot Cain and great grandfather to Blair Allen.
Services for Colonel Charles (Bud) Donald McGaw will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday September 25, 2020 in the Lucille Melton Memorial Chapel of Melton Funeral Home with Bro. Kim Hudson officiating with burial to follow in the Lisman Cemetery with military honors being provided by the 101st Airborne Division Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held on Friday September 25, 2020 from 12:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Lisman Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
