James Allen Melton

James Allen Melton

James Allen Melton worked for the Montgomery and Sons Funeral Home which was the predecessor of Melton Funeral Home as we know it today. Mr. Melton was married to Jesse Howard Melton, he received his funeral directors licence in 1914 and his embalmers licence in 1926 after he graduated from the Cincinnati College of Embalming. He purchased the funeral home from the Montgomery family in 1943 and moved it to our current location.


James Edward Melton

James Edward Melton

 James Edward Melton was the second generation of the Melton family to operate the funeral home. Jim Ed as he was known around Providence was a World War II US Army veteran, when he was discharged from the Army he married Lucille McGaw who was raised in the Lisman community. James Edward Melton graduated from the Cincinnati College of Embalming in 1947 and received his Funeral Director and Embalmer licence in 1948.


Richard Melton

Richard Melton

Richard Allen"Rick" Melton is the third generation of the Melton family to run the family business. Richard Melton is a Providence High School Class of 1967 graduate, he graduated from the KY School of Mortuary Science in August of 1968, he received his Funeral Director and Embalmers licence in January of 1971.  Richard and Jan Boyd Melton operated the funeral home until her death in 2016., he has two children, Georgianna and Stan, one granddaughter, Savanna. Richard is married to Kaye Hill Melton a native of Clay, KY.
